FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

The first day of school is a full day.  All students will come into the gym after the bell at 8:30 am.  Class lists will be posted in the halls and gym and staff will be available to help students find their homeroom teacher and classroom.  There will be no rotary on this day – all students will spend the day in their homeroom completing “get to know you” activities, reviewing their timetables, receiving locker assignments and other first day of school administrative tasks.

LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES

Activities Council

Activities Council is a group of dedicated leadership students who assist in the organization, planning and running of many different aspects of school life, many of which are sports or athletic related.  These include planning and running intramurals, scorekeeping for team sports, selling pizza, etc.  Students interested in becoming an “AC” should be a role model for others.  They need to be motivated, responsible and willing to work.  An interest in sports is important, as is participation in physical education classes and intramurals.  Students in their grade 7 year are invited to apply in May / June to be on the Activities Council for the following (gr. 8) year.

Me-to-We Group

The Me-to-We group is a leadership group for those students in both grades 7 & 8 who are concerned about social issues in their local and global community.  They are responsible for running a variety of awareness, spirit and fundraising activities throughout the year that will benefit students in the local community and in countries around the world.  Much of the fundraising efforts go towards the group “Education for Change” which is spearheaded by our school Social Worker.

WAYVE

A new group to MacGregor for the 2016-2017 school year, this group will be open to students in both grade 7 & 8 who are interested in making MacGregor a more accepting, inclusive and caring environment for all students.  WAYVE stands for Wellness, Acceptance, Youth, Voice, Empowerment.  Listen for announcements in September for this new opportunity for our students.
