Last November, during Bullying Awareness Week, our school board partnered with the Waterloo Region Crime Prevention Council to bring the T.H.I.N.K campaign http://www.preventingcrime.ca/THINK to all schools across Waterloo Region.  The THINK campaign provides students with a self-assessment tool of five easy questions to “THINK” before sending or posting via social media (Is the content True? Helpful? Inspiring? Necessary? Kind?).  T.H.I.N.K aligns with the board’s efforts to promote the positive use of social media using technology and social media apps in an effort to nurture respectful and responsible digital citizenship.

In a continuing effort to support the THINK message this November, a 30 DAYS OF T.H.I.N.K contest has been created to invite students/classes “to create a digital piece in response to a given challenge, using social medium of their choice.” Participants may choose to do an activity as a class or group, or students can do their own.  Capture the activity in a photo or video and submit via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #30DaysofTHINK.

All students are eligible. Teachers, staff or parents may submit on behalf of students under the age of 13 years old for Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. In the case where a student does not have any social media accounts, submissions may be e-mailed to tjasmins@regionofwaterloo.ca to be submitted on their behalf.
